| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a multi-line Kufic Arabic inscription arranged in three or four horizontal registers within a plain inner border. The legend, struck in bold relief on a dark copper flan, references the authority of Al-Muqanna and invokes religious formulae typical of Abbasid-era provincial coinage. The script is early Kufic in style, angular and unpointed, consistent with late 8th-century Sogdian mint practice. A dotted or beaded outer border encircles the central inscription field. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan shape and uneven strike common to hammered copper fals of this period. |
