Switzerland never joined the Eurozone and has no plans to do so, but the mint at Bern produced a small run of Euro-denomination trial pieces in 2005 — almost certainly for vending machine and coin-operated equipment manufacturers who needed dimensionally accurate test tokens before the Swiss market could reliably accommodate Euro-accepting hardware.
