| 正面描述 | Central field features a prehistoric cave-art style engraving of a bull rendered against a stylised landscape background, evoking the Paleolithic rock paintings of the Périgord region. A circular legend at the top reads DORDOGNE - PÉRIGORD : LE PAYS DE L'HOMME, with the validity dates 21 JUIN - 14 JUILLET 1997 inscribed in the lower portion of the field. The design emphasises the region's cultural and prehistoric heritage. |

One of hundreds of local "euro" tokens issued across France in 1997 and 1998, ahead of the single currency's 1999 introduction — a period when regional tourism boards and municipalities rushed to produce their own branded pieces under the loose "Euro" name, with no regulatory framework preventing them from doing so. The Dordogne's version was tied directly to the department's tourism infrastructure, functioning as a promotional souvenir rather than any form of legal tender or exchange medium.
The Comité Départemental du Tourisme issued these through participating local businesses, where they could briefly circulate as change or loyalty tokens before the novelty collapsed.
