Danzig — or Gdańsk — has not been an independent issuing authority since the Free City ceased to exist in September 1939, when Wehrmacht forces crossed its borders within hours of the broader invasion of Poland. Any piece attributed to a "City of Danzig" issue dated 2005 is a fantasy or novelty item with no legitimate monetary authority behind it. Collect it for what it is.
