| 裏面の説明 | The municipal coat of arms of Cadenet displayed prominently in the center of the field, featuring a quartered shield with heraldic devices, supported by laurel branches on either side and surmounted by a crown. The town name 'CADENET' appears above the shield. A border of small stars flanks the left and right sides of the design. The circular legend along the upper rim reads '21 JUIN - 15 JUILLET 1996', denoting the period of issue, while the denomination inscription '1 EURO de CADENET' arcs along the lower rim. |

Cadenet issued this piece in 1996 as part of the brief wave of French municipal emergency currency experiments that preceded the euro's physical introduction. These local authority tokens, sometimes called "euros des villes," were promotional rather than legally tender — more a civic marketing exercise tied to the broader public campaign normalizing the single currency than any genuine monetary instrument. Several hundred French communes participated between roughly 1996 and 1997.
Cadenet is a small Luberon village in the Vaucluse, population under four thousand.
