| Obverse description | The obverse features the Celtic harp, Ireland's national symbol, rendered in a stylised medieval manner and positioned centrally in the field. The Irish-language inscription ÉIRE, denoting Ireland, appears to the left of the harp, while the year of issue is struck to the right. The entire design is encircled by the twelve five-pointed stars of the European Union, arranged along the coin's periphery. The engraving was executed by Jarlath Hayes, and the design has been used on Irish euro coinage since the series began. |
