Slovenia adopted the euro on January 1, 2007, becoming the first of the ten new EU member states that joined in 2004 to make the switch. The "2nd map" reverse — introduced across all eurozone countries that year — replaced the original design showing only the fifteen pre-2004 EU members with one depicting the full geographic extent of Europe. For Slovenia, this changeover coincided precisely with euro adoption, meaning the country never issued the first-map type at all.
