Obverse description The obverse features a right-facing portrait of Primož Trubar (1508–1586), the Slovenian Protestant reformer and author of the first printed books in Slovenian. His name appears in the field alongside the motto STATI INU OBSTATI (meaning 'To stand and withstand'). The twelve stars of the European Union are interspersed around the outer ring with the letters of SLOVENIJA, and the date and mint mark appear at the lower right of the portrait.
