Reverse description The central field depicts a geographic representation of Europe, with the numeral 1 prominently displayed to the left and the denomination inscription EURO to the right, superimposed over the map. Six radiating lines appear on each side of the globe motif, evoking the sun's rays and symbolising European unity. The engraver's initials LL, for Luc Luycx, appear discreetly in the design. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union.
