The Cercle Numismatique de Nice is a collector's society, and this note is a privately issued souvenir franc — a genre with deep roots in French philatelic and numismatic club culture, where regional associations have periodically produced their own exchange media for use at bourses and fairs. The dual denomination "1 euro / 1 franc" reflects the post-2002 nostalgia market rather than any legal tender ambition. Imprimerie Zimmermann in Villeneuve-Loubet has handled a number of these regional club emissions, bringing genuine press credentials to what is essentially commemorative paper.
