| Description de l’avers |
Central device depicts the Portuguese colonial arms of Cape Verde: the national shield of Portugal, featuring five escutcheons arranged in a cross charged with bezants, superimposed on an armillary sphere and flanked by a caravel in sail over stylized waves, all surmounted by a mural crown of five towers. The legend CABO VERDE arcs across the upper field in large incuse letters, flanked by small floral ornaments at either side of the lower field. The date 1968 appears in the lower exergue. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |

| Description du revers |
The reverse presents a boldly rendered numeral 1 in the upper central field, with the denomination ESCUDO inscribed in a curved legend below it. The circular legend REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA runs along the outer periphery, interrupted by a small pellet at the base. The word PROVA (Pattern) appears in small incuse letters to the left of the central numeral, identifying this piece as a trial striking. The field is plain and unadorned, enclosed within a beaded border consistent with the obverse. |
