Reverse description The quartered royal arms of Spain, displaying the castles of Castile and the lions of León in alternate quarters, with the Granada pomegranate in base and the Bourbon fleur-de-lis on an escutcheon, surmounted by an open royal crown. The shield is encircled by the collar and badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece suspended below. The denomination numeral 1 appears to the left of the shield and the assayer's initial S to the right. The surrounding legend IN · UTROQ · FELIX · A · D · 1 S · M · · GJ · runs along the periphery, with the mint mark M and assayers' initials GJ visible at the base. A milled border encircles the entire reverse design.
