| Obverse description | Central device depicts the Chilean coat of arms: a shield supported by a condor to the left and a huemul deer to the right, with a plume of three feathers above and a laurel branch below. The legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE encircles the design along the upper periphery, with the date 1838 appearing in the lower field flanked by small stars.
