Obverse description Armored bust of King Carlos IV facing right, draped in a military coat with epaulettes and decorative detail, his hair worn in a short queue tied with a ribbon. The effigy is rendered in high relief with naturalistic modeling typical of late 18th-century Spanish colonial coinage. The circular legend surrounds the bust, with the date 1801 appearing in the lower field beneath the portrait. The coin's reeded edge is visible at the periphery, and the overall style reflects the neoclassical portraiture introduced during the Bourbon reform of the colonial mint system.
