Obverse description Draped and armored bust of King Carlos IV facing right, rendered in the neoclassical style, occupying the center of the field. The king is depicted wearing a military cuirass with decorative collar, his hair dressed in a powdered queue style typical of the late 18th century. The surrounding circular legend reads CAROL·IIII·D·G·HISP·ET IND·R·, identifying the monarch as King of Spain and the Indies by the Grace of God. The date appears prominently in the lower exergue, flanked by pellets.
