Reverse description A classical female allegory, representing Liberty or Central America, reclines to the left upon a decorated column or plinth, holding a bow and arrows as attributes of independence and sovereignty. The Independence date 15 DE SETE. DE 1821 is inscribed on the column or in the field, commemorating Central American independence from Spain. The circular legend AMERICA CENTRAL arcs along the upper periphery. In the lower exergue, fineness, denomination, and assayer's initials are inscribed: 21 Qs. 1 E J.B., denoting 21 karats fineness, 1 Escudo value, and the initials of assayer Juan Barth.
