| Obverse description | Two allegorical figures flank a circular map of Europe at the centre of the field: at left, Neptune is depicted seated and holding a trident, while at right, Europa reclines holding a sceptre, both figures rendered in high relief against a rocky seabed ground. The central map displays the outline of the European continent adorned with a ring of twelve stars, with a radiant crown rising above in the upper field. The whole central design is surrounded by a raised border bearing the bilingual legend EUROPE and EUROPA in the upper arc, separated by a floral ornament, and N.
