| Obverse description | Draped bust of Philip II facing left, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the ruffled collar and armour, occupying the majority of the field. The date appears in the exergue below the effigy, divided by the mint mark. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust along the periphery, reading PHS· D: G· HISP· Z· REX· DNS· TORNA, identifying the sovereign as King of Spain and Lord of Tournai. The portrait reflects the late Renaissance Flemish engraving style characteristic of the Spanish Netherlands coinage. |

| Reverse description | Crowned heraldic shield bearing the full quartered arms of Philip II, incorporating the arms of Castile, León, Aragon, Portugal, and the House of Burgundy, superimposed upon a Burgundian cross (saltire of Burgundy) with flint-and-steel strikers. The crowned shield is centrally placed within the field, flanked by the elements of the cross. A circular Latin legend surrounds the composition, reading DOMINVS MIHI ADIVTOR, meaning 'The Lord is my Helper', a Habsburgian motto frequently employed on the coinage of the Spanish Netherlands. |
