| Reverse description | Central device composed of four fleurs-de-lis arranged in a square formation, surrounded by four royal crowns alternating with pairs of back-to-back interlaced 'L' monograms (the royal cipher of Louis XV), creating an ornate cruciform composition in the field. The circular legend SIT . NOMEN DOM . BENEDICT followed by the date runs clockwise around the rim, an abbreviated Scriptural motto from Psalm 113 ('Sit nomen Domini benedictum' — Blessed be the name of the Lord). The overall design reflects the restrained Baroque heraldic style characteristic of early eighteenth-century French royal coinage. |
