| 背面描述 | The municipal coat of arms of Gourdon en Quercy occupies the center of the field, depicting a crowned heraldic shield bearing a fortified tower, supported by laurel branches on either side; the numeral '1' appears prominently to the left and the denomination 'ECU' is stacked vertically to the right. The legend 'GOURDON' arcs across the upper field with 'EN QUERCY' inscribed beneath the crown, while the date of the local fair '10 AOUT 3 SEPT 1995' runs along the lower arc. |

Gourdon's 1995 ECU issue belongs to the wave of municipal and regional token coinages that proliferated across France in the early 1990s, piggybacking on the EU's push toward a unified currency. Dozens of French towns minted brass ECU-denominated pieces for local promotional and tourism purposes — legal tender they were not, but they circulated in participating shops and markets as a genuine community currency experiment before the euro made the entire exercise moot.
