Reverse description Central field displays the crowned arms of Gelderland, consisting of a quartered shield bearing two rampant lions in the dexter quarters and two rampant lions in the sinister quarters, surmounted by an elaborate mural crown with decorative detailing. The circular legend 'IN DEO SP . NOS' (an abbreviation of 'In Deo Spes Nostra', meaning 'In God is our Hope') runs along the periphery of the field. The design is bordered by a beaded rim consistent with the milled production technique.
