Obverse description The obverse displays the provincial name ZEELANDIA arranged in three lines across the central field, reading ZEE / LAN / DIA, in bold hammered capital letters. The inscription is entirely enclosed within a wreath formed by two laurel branches tied at the base with a stylized floral ornament, their tips meeting at the top of the flan. The overall design is simple and heraldic in character, consistent with the typology of small hammered silver duits of the Dutch Republic period. The irregular flan, typical of hand-struck coinage, lends the piece a characteristic unevenness at the periphery.
