Obverse description Uncrowned draped bust of Philip II facing left, positioned in the lower portion of the field with a lily mintmark beneath. The legend, commencing at approximately 7 o'clock, encircles the effigy and reads in Latin abbreviation, invoking the king's titles as ruler of Spain and Count of Flanders. The overall style is characteristic of hammered Low Countries coinage of the late sixteenth century, with irregular flan edges typical of the period.
