| 正面描述 | Plain field bearing the crowned royal cipher of Louis Napoleon, King of Holland, rendered as the conjoined initials 'L' and 'N' in large capital letters at center. A star mint mark appears to the left of the monogram. The design is stark and unadorned, with no border legend, reflecting the utilitarian character of this colonial copper issue struck for circulation in Java. |

Louis Napoleon, installed as King of Holland by his brother in 1806, proved an unexpectedly conscientious ruler — too conscientious for Napoleon's tastes. His insistence on prioritizing Dutch interests over French imperial demands, including resistance to the Continental System, led directly to his forced abdication in 1810 and the annexation of Holland into France. These duits, struck across that compressed three-year window, were among the last coins issued under any nominally independent Dutch authority before the Napoleonic absorption was complete.
