Reverse description The inscription JAVA is boldly rendered in large capital letters across the upper half of the coin's field, identifying the territorial issuing authority. The four-digit date appears in two rows beneath, occupying the lower half of the field. The lettering is large and somewhat roughly struck, filling the flan with minimal border detail, consistent with the utilitarian character of this colonial copper issue.
