Obverse description The VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie) cipher monogram occupies the central field, formed by the intertwined letters V, O, and C in a bold, interlaced design characteristic of Dutch East India Company coinage. A six-pointed star or rosette appears prominently above the monogram in the upper field. The overall design is rendered in relatively crude relief consistent with local colonial mint production of the period.
