1 Duit Gelderland

The VOC duit was the workhorse of small trade across the Indonesian archipelago, but a silver duit from Gelderland is a different animal from the copper issues that dominated everyday commerce. The Gelderland chamber of the VOC operated with considerable autonomy in its coinage decisions, and the silver composition here likely reflects a specific contractual or regional trade requirement rather than standard company-wide policy.
