Obverse description Central field features an ornate crowned royal cipher of Frederick III, comprising the interlaced initials 'FR' within an oval cartouche, flanked on either side by elaborate foliate and scroll decoration. A mural or ducal crown surmounts the cipher at the top of the design. The overall composition is rendered in a bold, somewhat rustic baroque style typical of late 17th-century German territorial coinage. No peripheral legend is present on this face.

Reverse description The reverse displays a three-line Latin inscription occupying the central field, reading 'DVC / CLIVIAE' above the date, all set against a textured ground evoking the heraldic lion of Cleves. A decorative crown or scroll ornament appears at the top of the field, and a small stop or pellet is visible below the date. The legends identify the issuing authority as the Duke of Cleves, with the date rendered in large numerals in the lower portion of the field.
