| 背面描述 | The reverse presents the Latin inscription CIV. TRAIECT arranged across three lines within a decorative quatrefoil or lobate cartouche formed by curved raised lines with small lozenge or dot ornaments at each junction. The date 1657 appears in the lower portion of the cartouche. A beaded border encircles the entire design, consistent with the milled production technique and the piedfort format of this issue. |

Utrecht struck silver duits as presentation pieces or pattern issues throughout the mid-seventeenth century, a practice common among Dutch civic mints seeking to demonstrate technical capability or fulfill official gift obligations. The piedfort format — achieved here at roughly 1.5 to 2 times normal striking weight — required a specially prepared, thicker planchet and careful die pressure to avoid splitting. These were never intended for commercial circulation.
The HPM and HNK references place this firmly within a small, well-documented group of Utrecht silver duit variants from the 1650s. Survivors are rare in any condition; most known examples passed through institutional collections before reaching private hands.
