Reverse description The reverse bears the crowned arms of West Friesland at centre, depicting two rampant lions passant guardant arranged vertically on a shield, representative of the provincial heraldic tradition of the Dutch Republic. The shield is surmounted by a mural or ducal crown and flanked on either side by decorative laurel or olive branches, their sprigs curving gracefully to fill the field. The entire device is set within a plain circular border with a milled rim.
