Reverse description The reverse displays a three-line Latin inscription arranged within an ornate cartouche or tablet with curved lobate framing, reading CIV. / ZVTPHA / NIA, an abbreviated form of Civitas Zutphaniae (City of Zutphen). The lettering is bold and deeply struck within the decorative border, occupying the full field of the flan. The cartouche frame features scrolled or arched upper and lower elements typical of Dutch municipal copper coinage of the late seventeenth century. The surrounding field is plain, and the coin's edge is characteristically irregular due to the hammered production technique.
