| Description du revers | The standing figure of the Dutch Maiden (Leo Belgicus personified as a female allegory of freedom) is depicted within a fenced garden, her right hand raised upward in a gesture of defiance or supplication. The gate of the enclosing fence is formed by the coat of arms of Zeeland, a shield barry wavy of six argent and azure charged with a lion. The Middelburg mint mark appears at the top of the field. The encircling legend LVCTOR ET EMERGO, the motto of the Province of Zeeland meaning 'I struggle and overcome,' runs around the periphery, punctuated by pellets and the mint mark symbol. |
