| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field features the crowned coat of arms of West Friesland, depicting a quartered or divided shield bearing lions passant, surmounted by a fleur-de-lis crown with pearl border, all in the heraldic style consistent with Dutch provincial coinage of the period. The surrounding peripheral legend reads DEVS FORTI ET SP NOS, an abbreviated Latin pious motto, disposed around the full circumference of the coin. The relief is bold but somewhat uneven due to the irregular copper flan. The overall design is consistent with the standard duit type issued by the West Frisian mint at Hoorn throughout the mid-seventeenth century. |
