Obverse description The city name CIVITAS ANHOLT is rendered in three lines across the field, divided as CI · VITAS / ANH ·, all enclosed within a decorative wreath composed of stylized tulips. The lettering is set in a crude but characteristic early seventeenth-century hammered style, consistent with provincial coinage of the period. The tulip wreath border encircles the entire legend, framing it with repeating floral motifs.
