Obverse description Central field bears the city name of Zwolle rendered in three lines as 'ZW / OLLA / [date]', with the last two digits of the mint year appearing below. The inscription is enclosed within a wreath of laurel or oak branches arranged in a circular border, characteristic of Dutch municipal coinage of the late sixteenth century. The lettering is bold and slightly irregular, consistent with the hammered production technique. Two small pellets or rosettes flank the middle line of the legend on either side. The overall fabric is irregular and slightly convex.
