The duke is depicted wearing elaborate armour with ornate pauldron and decorative breastplate visible at the truncation. A fine inner beaded border frames the field, with the abbreviated Latin legend disposed around the periphery, interrupted by small star-shaped ornaments. The portrait displays exceptional artistry characteristic of the Modenese ducal mint of the period. |
