Reverse description A radiant sun with a human face occupies the centre of the field, emitting long straight rays extending to a beaded inner border, a classical solar emblem used as the personal device of Ferdinando I Gonzaga. The sun's face is rendered in fine relief with distinct facial features. The Latin motto NON MVTVATA LVCE encircles the central device within the beaded border, meaning 'Its light unchanged', a reference to constancy and sovereign virtue. The mintmaster's initials C·T appear in the lower exergue area, separated by a small ornamental scroll. The entire composition is framed by a beaded border and plain outer rim.
