The mythological motif serves as a dynastic emblem of resurrection and renewal. The Latin motto REDIVIVVS·PROSILI·TIDEM is distributed around the periphery within a beaded border, translating roughly as 'revived, I leap forth in the same manner,' alluding to the resilience of the Pico dynasty. The overall composition is rendered in the bold, high-relief Baroque style typical of northern Italian ducal coinage of the mid-seventeenth century. |
