Obverse description A fully armored knight on a charging horse prancing to right, brandishing a raised sword in his right hand above the crowned quartered arms of Utrecht province, with the small shield of the city of Utrecht at center. The horse and rider occupy the full field in dynamic relief, consistent with the classic Dutch 'Zilveren Rijder' (Silver Rider) type. The peripheral legend in Latin runs along the coin's edge, separated by dots and a pellet stop. The design exhibits the bold, high-relief milled workmanship characteristic of Utrecht provincial coinage of the mid-eighteenth century.
