Obverse description Within a beaded circle, an armored knight on horseback gallops to the right, brandishing an unsheathed sword aloft in his right hand. Beneath the horse, an uncrowned provincial shield of West Friesland occupies the lower field. The design is struck in high relief on a square klippe flan, characteristic of piedfort presentation pieces. The encircling Latin legend is interrupted by dots and colons used as ornamental dividers.
