| Beschrijving keerzijde | The Arms of the Dutch Republic, consisting of a crowned shield charged with the rampant lion of the Netherlands, are displayed centrally, supported on either side by a rampant crowned lion. Below the shield, the interlaced VOC monogram of the Dutch East India Company is prominently displayed within an elaborate scrollwork cartouche. The date 1728 appears at the top of the field within the circular legend CONCORDIA RES PARVAE CRESCUNT, which runs around the full periphery between pellet stops, all within a reeded border. The overall design is executed in vigorous high relief, consistent with the finest Dutch provincial coinage of the early eighteenth century. |
