背面描述 The crowned arms of the seven United Provinces, supported by rampant lions, are displayed at the centre within a beaded inner circle. The full heraldic shield bears the quartered provincial arms surmounted by a crown. A continuous Latin legend encircles the design, with the date appearing at the conclusion of the inscription. The composition is formal and heraldic in character, consistent with Dutch Republican coinage of the period.

附加信息

West Friesland struck these ducatons during one of the most desperate years in Dutch history — 1672, the Rampjaar or "Disaster Year," saw France, England, Münster, and Cologne simultaneously declare war on the Republic. Coin production across the provinces accelerated sharply as military expenditure overwhelmed normal fiscal channels, and the ducaton's substantial silver content made it the preferred vehicle for paying mercenary troops.

The date-at-top reverse configuration distinguishes KM#46.2 from related West Friesland ducaton types, a provincial peculiarity that Delmonte catalogued separately precisely because collectors and dealers had long conflated them.
