Obverse description Draped bust of Ferdinand I of Bourbon, Duke of Parma, facing right, with powdered wig tied at the back with a ribbon. The effigy is rendered in a refined late Baroque style, with the engraver's signature SILIPR. visible on the truncation. A six-pointed star appears in the lower field. The circular legend reads FERDINANDVS I · HISPAN · INFANS, separated by dots, and is contained within a beaded inner border.

Reverse description The quartered arms of the Duchy of Parma, combining the fleurs-de-lis of Bourbon-France, the lions of Farnese, and the lilies of Piacenza, displayed within an oval cartouche surmounted by a large ducal crown and flanked by symmetrical sprigs of laurel and oak. A mint mark S appears at the base of the shield. The date 1786 is placed to the left of the crown, and the Latin legend D · G · PERMÆ PLAC · ET VAST · DVX encircles the design within a beaded border.
