Obverse description Draped bust of Charles II facing right, wearing elaborately decorated armour and a long flowing wig rendered in fine relief, characteristic of the fourth portrait type. A fleur-de-lis mint mark appears below the truncation. The peripheral Latin legend reads CAROL · II · D · G · HISP · ET · INDIAR · REX, interrupted by the bust, with a toothed border visible at the rim.

Reverse description Crowned quartered royal arms of Spain, set within an ornate shield and encircled by the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece, supported on either side by rampant lions. The date 1694 appears at the top of the field, divided by the crown surmounting the shield. The Latin legend, divided into three segments separated by the supporters, reads ARCHID AVST - DVX BVRG - C FLAND Z, denoting Charles II's titles as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Count of Flanders.
