Obverse description Saint Mark, patron saint of Venice, depicted enthroned facing front at left, wearing ecclesiastical robes and nimbus, extending a gonfalon staff to the kneeling Doge Nicolò da Ponte at right, who is shown in profile wearing the traditional ducal corno and robes with hands raised in a gesture of reception. The composition is rendered in the characteristic Venetian hammered style with fine relief detail. The encircling Latin legend reads NICOLAVS·DEPONTE·DVX·S·M·VENETV, identifying the doge and invoking Saint Mark. The coin's broad flan and crisp denticulated border are typical of the large-module Venetian ducatone series.
