Obverse description St. Mark standing facing left presents a staff topped with a cross to the kneeling Doge at right; the inscription DVX appears vertically between the two figures. The scene is rendered in the flat, hieratic style characteristic of early Venetian ducats, with both figures shown in full length. A beaded border frames the composition, and the abbreviated legend of St. Mark and Venice appears in the field.

Reverse description Full-length frontal figure of Christ in Majesty, robed and nimbate, standing within a beaded oval mandorla lined with eight six-pointed stars. Christ raises his right hand in benediction and holds the Gospels in his left. The devotional legend surrounding the mandorla invokes Christ as the granter of the duchy. The design is executed in the Byzantine-influenced Gothic style common to the Venetian zecchino.
