Obverse description The obverse depicts the Doge of Venice, Giovanni Corner II, kneeling in three-quarter view to the right before Saint Mark, who stands erect holding a long staff or banner in his right hand and extends a blessing gesture toward the kneeling figure with his left. The Doge is shown in full ducal regalia, including the corno ducale, richly ornamented robes, and an elaborate mantle. A decorative base or throne element appears at lower left. The Latin legend S·M·V·IOAN·CORNEL·IO·D· A·M encircles the scene within a beaded border, with a mintmaster's mark visible at the base of the design.
