| Aanvullende informatie |
Tassarolo was a minor Imperial fief in Liguria, and the Spinola family's right to strike coin there was a privilege jealously defended against repeated challenges from Genoa, which had every incentive to suppress competing local issues. Agostino Spinola received confirmation of his minting rights from the Holy Roman Emperor, a common strategy among small Italian lords who needed Imperial backing to outmaneuver their more powerful neighbors.
Production across a twelve-year window almost certainly means multiple die pairs, though documented varieties for this type remain poorly catalogued outside Friedberg and MIR.
