1 Ducat - Wolfgang von Schrattenbach

Wolfgang von Schrattenbach served as Prince-Bishop of Olomouc from 1711 until his death in 1738, but the ducat series bearing his name was struck only across the years corresponding to a period of post-war fiscal reconstruction following the War of the Spanish Succession. The Bishopric retained minting rights as an imperial fief, one of the few ecclesiastical territories in Moravia to do so into the eighteenth century.

Fr#97 is among the scarcer Olomouc ducats by surviving population. The relatively short striking window and the small-scale production typical of episcopal mints — as opposed to the major Bohemian crown mints — accounts for it.
