| Reverse description | Full-length frontal figure of Saint Henry II, Holy Roman Emperor and patron saint of Bavaria, standing erect within a beaded inner circle, wearing imperial robes and crown, holding a lance or sceptre in his right hand and the Bavarian shield in his left. The date 96 (for 1596) appears divided in the lower field to either side of the saint's feet. The circumferential Latin legend S. HEN. ROM. IMP - E - R: DVX. BAVA. identifies the saint and his imperial title. The coin is struck on a broad flan with a toothed outer border, consistent with Munich Mint practice of the period. |
